How to Transition from Summer to Fall Outfits

I have come to accept that now that it is getting closer to fall and it’s getting colder outside, I can’t just wear jean shorts and tank tops all the time. For this blog post, I wanted to share with you easy summer to fall transitional outfits and pieces, and how to style them.  This will allow you to hold onto some a little bit longer, but also start preparing yourself for some super cute fall outfits.

Summer to Fall Outfits & Pieces

Outfit #1: Cardigans

Cardigans are my number 1 go to when I am transitioning my closet from summer to fall.  They are so easy to throw on over any item of clothing.  For those cooler days, it still allows me to wear a skirt or shorts, while also being cozy.  You can either choose to go with a long cardigan, or a shorter cardigan, depending on what you are feeling. I personally start off with shorter cardigans until it gets a little cooler.

Outfit #2: Corduroy Jackets

Corduroy jackets and jean jackets are perfect for the fall time! They are usually pretty light weight and can go with everything!  This jacket is from Gap, the jeans are Levis, and the t-shirt is from H&M.  Pairing the jacket with a pair of ripped jeans and a t-shirt in case I end up getting too warm.

Outfit #3: Cropped Sweatshirts

You guys will probably tell, I love cropped items of clothing.  Cropped sweatshirts are awesome for the fall since they are pretty light weight and they’re so cute.  You can pair them with pretty much anything, jeans, shorts, leggings, etc.  I actually thrifted this sweatshirt and let’s be honest, half of my closet is thrifted.  It’s a great way to help the environment as well as get super cute clothes for a great deal.

Outfit #4: Joggers / Sweatpants

Ever since I’ve been at home more, I’ve been finding myself in sweatpants.  There are some super cute joggers out there and you can really wear them with anything.  I usually throw on a cropped t-shirt or a cropped sweatshirt! These sweatpants are from Target and I love them so much.

Outfit #5: Dress with a cardigan!

This is another one of my favorite outfits.  I own so many summer dresses, and the best way to be able to keep wearing them through the fall season is pairing dresses with a cardigan! This dress is from American Eagle, and my long cardigan is from H&M.  It’s perfect because if I get to hot, I can take off the cardigan, and if I get too cold I can keep it on.   When I think of dresses for the fall, I usually think of ones that are more muted / neutral colors.

Outfit #6: Waffle knit long sleeves!

If you don’t own one of these, you definitely should.  Depending on the one you get, they are a light weight material between a sweater and a regular long sleeve.   They are super comfortable and I love how simple they are. It is easy to pair it with shorts, leggings, sweatpants, you name it.  This one is actually my boyfriends and I wear it all the time around the house.  I live for comfort and this is my perfect shirt.

Outfit #7: Cropped sweater & Skirt!

This is kind of the same idea as the dress and cardigan outfit.  A great combination of staying cozy and still holding onto little bit of summer.  This kind of outfit is so easy you don’t have to think about it, you can just throw it on and head for the door.  This cropped sweater is from Zara, and the skirt is from Forever 21.

I have lived in a somewhat small town all my life, and there are still restaurants I’ve never been to and places I’ve never tried. So as a fun date ideas, go explore and learn more about where you live or a place close to you that you’ve never been.
