Throughout my life, my style has always been changing. I’ve always been trying to stay with the trends and “up” my style game. If this is something that sounds like you, then this blog post is for you. I am going to share some tips on how to find your personal style and transform your wardrobe on a budget!
Steps to Transform Your Wardrobe
Step 1: Find inspiration
My favorite places to go to find inspiration for new outfits or new fashion trends is Pinterest and Instagram. These places can be great for figuring out what your style is and what you like. This is also a great way to see what outfits and what clothing items you would want to try out, before committing and buying them.

Step 2: Consider your lifestyle
This step is really important because you want to make sure that the clothes that you get will be used often. While 1 or 2 fancy outfits might be fun to get, if you aren’t going to formal events a ton, you probably don’t need more than that. So, you have to figure out your lifestyle. Are you working? Are you more relaxed and staying at home? Do you travel a lot? Once you figure out your lifestyle, it will make shopping easier.

Step 3: Clean out your wardrobe
In order to start a new wardrobe, you first need to clean out your wardrobe. Get rid of anything that you don’t like, that doesn’t fit, or you know you won’t wear. If items of clothing are in good condition, you can donate them to Goodwill or Salvation Army. If you don’t want to give some good items away, you can sell them online. You can go to apps such as Mercari, Depop, or Poshmark to sell your clothes!

Step 4: Identify brands that fit your budget & go with your style
The next step to transform your wardrobe is to identify brands that not only go with your style, but are also in your budget range. While you don’t want to be looking at brands that are too expensive, you can always use those to look for inspiration or items that you might want to buy at a different store. I love brands like Princess Polly and Urban Outfitters, however those items are on the expensive side of my budget so I don’t typically shop there. I just find inspiration for the kinds of things I want, and then look for alternative stores that are in my budget.
Step 5: Shopping time!
Make a list! Figure out what you want to include in your wardrobe before you go to the store. This way, you will have a more focused mindset instead of just buying things on the spot. You can also have an easier time knowing what you are looking for. Then head to the store or open your computer and start shopping! This can be such a fun process, but as you probably know, keep in mind your budget. If you are shopping online, is also important to read the reviews to make sure you are getting quality items.

Step 6: Basics are essential
Don’t overlook the value of basic clothes such as t-shirts or tank tops. Basics are essential to starting any wardrobe and are easy to pair with anything. A few basic items you should be having in your wardrobe are plain t-shirts & tank tops, non-ripped jeans (blue, black, or both), a nice simple dress, and a simple sweater or sweatshirt.
Step 7: Get Organized
As you’re shopping or figuring out your style, it’s important to stay organized so you know what you own so you’re not buying multiples of the same items. This is why step 3: cleaning out your wardrobe, is really important. When you know what you have in your closet, it makes shopping easier.
Step 8: Experiment
You might not get your “perfect” style right the first time, which is why it is important to try out different things and step out of your comfort zone. Keep using the inspiration you found to try out new styles and see what is right for you personally.
Wrap Up
And that concludes steps that YOU can take to transform your wardrobe and create your dream personal style. I think changing up you style can experimenting can be so exciting
